Taliban 2.0: Transisi Pendekatan Komunikasi Politik Taliban Dalam Membangun Citra Demokrasi

Penarikan pasukan Amerika Serikat pada tahun 2021 menjadi pertanda kembalinya Taliban setelah dua dekade absen dari tampuk kekuasaannya di Afganistan. Akibat rekam jejak Taliban yang banyak bersinggungan dengan demokrasi dan hak asasi manusia, pada akhirnya membuat kelompok ini tidak mendapat legitimasi dari masyarakat lokal dan pengakuan negara lain. Oleh karena itu, kemunculan Taliban yang kemudian dijuluki sebagai rezim “Taliban 2.0” berupaya melakukan perbaikan citra ke arah yang lebih moderat dan peduli dengan demokrasi. Tulisan ini secara spesifik membahas upaya Taliban dalam membangun citra demokrasi melalui proses transisi komunikasi politik yang lebih modern dan berbeda dengan periode sebelumnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif-kualitatif dan pengumpulan data melalui metode desk research yang menggunakan studi literatur dalam proses analisis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perubahan dalam Taliban 2.0 hanyalah untuk memanipulasi persepsi, sementara pada kenyataannya Taliban masih belum benar-benar menerapkan sistem pemerintahan yang demokrasi dan terbuka. Perubahan yang dilakukan Taliban dinilai hanya bersifat temporal hingga tujuan politiknya dalam mendapatkan legitimasi dapat tercapai. Peran The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) dalam hal ini juga diperhitungkan untuk mengawal misi perdamaian dan penegakan hak asasi manusia di Afganistan.
